Aromatherapy Massage is highly recommended as a non-surgical treatment for chronic lower back pain, neck and shoulder pain, sports injuries, and general musculoskeletal discomfort.
Essential Oils are active ingredients with medicinal properties. They are usually steam distilled from different parts of plants:
- lavender, rose, geranium, ylang ylang, and neroli, for example, are flower extracts
- citrus oils such as lemon, orange, mandarin, bergamot, and grapefruit are from the fruit peel
- vetiver is extracted from the roots of a grass indigenous to India
- ginger and turmeric derive from the rhizomes that we also use in cooking
- mint, lemonbalm, lemongrass, basil, thyme, rosemary, and marjoram are from the leaves
- myrrh, frankincense, galbanum, and benzoin are steam distilled from resins
- palo santo, cinnamon, ho wood, and sandalwood come from wood or bark of trees & shrubs
Frangipani (also known as Tiare or Monoi de Tahiti) is produced by steeping Plumeria flowers in coconut oil and used in a soothing body massage or skin and hair treatment.
I prefer to use chamomile CO2 Extract rather than the essential oil, because the CO2 is a whole plant extract, not just the volatile parts, so it contains all the active ingredients of the plant. It's a complete extract, containing the full remedial potential of chamomile.
Other medicinal plants contain oil-soluble or water-soluble active ingredients, which are extracted through maceration.
As much as possible, I try to use organic essential oils, base oils, butters (cacao, shea butter, coconut oil), and other active ingredients.

As lymph is part of the immune system, maintaining healthy lymphatic circulation is crucial for healing, prevention, and maintaining optimum health & wellbeing.
